With 30 years’ experience in the technology industry in over 30 countries, Malcolm is an experienced practitioner in the development of innovation ecosystems.

Starting his career in the fledging New Zealand electronics industry, Malcolm has over 3 decades business experience in high technology industries, and has held a number of executive roles with international firms, both private and publicly-listed.

From 2002, Malcolm has undertaken  number of research projects and designed both software business management and entrepreneurship training for innovation centers and software companies across Europe, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Latin America, including:

  • Worked across the global network Microsoft Innovation Centers in developing programs, center best practices and sustainability models
  • Research and Design of the Local Software Economy Maturity Model and Maturity Index across 52 countries
  • Design and execution of the Software Business Management Course for ICT firms across Asia Pacific, Middle East and East Europe.
  • Design and execution of business ‘Entrepreneurship’ and ‘Venture Capital’ workshops for software companies in Asia Pacific and Europe.
  • Research, design and execution of the Software Entrepreneurship for Students Program across Europe

Malcolm has also personally delivered strategic workshops for innovation centers and incubators, entrepreneurship programs and software companies in over 25 countries, including:

United Kingdom, Germany, Denmark, France, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Russia, Romania, Bulgaria, Latvia, Croatia, Singapore, India, China, Korea, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Turkey, Jordan, Egypt, Pakistan, Tunisia, Kuwait and Brazil.

Malcolm has the following areas of training and learning expertise:

  • IT Services Marketing and Management
  • Enterprise Architecture and Microsoft Solutions Framework
  • IT Executive Learning, Leadership and Development Workshops Delivery

Software: Since 1995, Malcolm has developed specific skills around application development and delivery, with an emphasis on the interaction between sales teams and the technical teams responsible for the development of a solution. He is a Microsoft-trained enterprise architect, and is also trained in the Microsoft Solution Framework for application development.

It is with this expertise he established the solution development processes for Advantage Group (Asia Pacific) in 1999/2000 and was also responsible for the design and implementation of the Advanced Development Centre in Asia Pacific for Cap Gemini Ernst & Young during 2001/2002.

Mobility: As senior management at Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, Malcolm established the Nokia OK application testing facility at the Asia Pacific Advanced Delivery Centre, and together with the Cap Gemini global mobility team, was also responsible for defining much of the thinking around enterprise applications and solutions in the mobility arena.

He was also responsible for defining and deploying a number of mobility projects including sales force automation and field service solutions, as well as developing go-to-market strategy around enterprise mobility for such organisations as Vodafone and Nokia. He has also shared this thinking at a number of industry events and conferences from 2002.
